Phoenix, AZ -- Western New Mexico University's women's basketball team ran into a buzzsaw Saturday afternoon as they fell 119-65 to CSU-Bakersfield in the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix. WNMU drops to 0-3 on the season.
Bakersfield scored 65 first half points and nearly equaled that performance in the second half as the Roadrunners set several school scoring records in the game and knocked down 10 three-pointers and 34 assists in their effort.
Tannesia Manley led Western with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Whitney Card came off the bench to add 15 points in the losing cause.
Bakersfield had six players in double figures.
WNMU returns to action Tuesday, November 22 in Portales for a rematch against Eastern New Mexico.
